'Will Come To Power With Two-Thirds Majority': Mamata's Prediction For Bengal Amid AAP Rout In Delhi

Mamata Banerjee said that the Trinamool Congress is sufficient to take on the BJP in Bengal as the other opposition parties do not have the strength to meet the BJP’s challenge like the Trinamul does.

Amid a poll debacle for the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made a prediction on the Bengal Assembly Elections, scheduled next year.

Mamata Banerjee said that her party, the Trinamool Congress, is sufficient to take on the BJP in Bengal as the other opposition parties do not have the strength to meet the BJP’s challenge like the Trinamul does. The CM also said that the party will return to power with more than a two-thirds majority in the 2026 assembly polls in Bengal.

The statement comes after BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, after BJP's decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, declared that Bengal is next in the party’s electoral conquest.

"We will come to power with a two-thirds majority on our own. Congress has nothing here. We will achieve victory on our own," Mamata Banerjee said during a meeting with party legislators earlier on Monday.

The TMC chief said that the Delhi elections wouldn't have any impact on the Bengal assembly polls.

"Trinamool Congress will return to power next year with more than a two-thirds majority. TMC alone is enough to take on the BJP in Bengal. Congress has no existence in Bengal," the Bengal chief minister said.

Speaking on AAP and Congress going solo in Delhi, Mamata said that if the two parties, part of the INDIA bloc, had worked together, then the results would have been different.

"Aam Aadmi Party did not help Congress in Haryana, and Congress did not support AAP during the recent elections in Delhi," she said.

The BJP is set to form the government after a gap of more than 26 years in a major setback to the AAP, which was ruling the capital for two full terms. While the BJP won 48 seats in the 70-member House, the AAP secured 22, and the Congress drew a blank in the polls held on February 5.
