When Will Delhi Get New CM? BJP Sources Hint At Possible Swear-In Date
The BJP had won the Delhi Assembly elections, making a historic comeback after 27 years. While BJP bagged 48 seats, AAP managed to win 22.

The swearing-in ceremony for the new Delhi government is likely to take place on February 19, sources told ABP News. The legislative party meeting may be held on February 17 or 18.
This comes as the Bharatiya Janata Party returned to power in the national capital in a historic comeback after winning the Delhi Assembly elections 2025. The BJP bagged 48 seats in the Delhi polls, while the Aam Aadmi Party, which was seeking a hat-trick, managed to win only 22 seats.
After BJP's sweeping victory, all eyes were set on who would be chosen to be the next Chief Minister of Delhi. Top contenders include Parvesh Verma, the son of former CM Sahib Singh, former MP Ramesh Bidhuri, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Dushyant Gautam.
Atishi Claims 'Internal Tussle' In BJP Over Portfolio Allocation
Meanwhile, outgoing Delhi CM Atishi claimed on Friday that an internal conflict was happening among BJP MLAs over portfolio allocation. She accused the party of making excuses to avoid fulfilling poll promises.
Addressing a press conference today, Atishi claimed that BJP leaders were engaged in a tussle over ministerial posts to "exploit public funds".
She further alleged that the saffron party had no intention of delivering the commitments made by it in its election manifesto. "We have learned from our sources that the BJP is planning to blame the AAP for its failure to fulfil promises. They will claim that the Delhi government has no money due to the previous AAP administration," Atishi said.
Atishi highlighted that the AAP government had increased Delhi's budget from Rs 31,000 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 77,000 crore in 2024-25 during its tenure. "In the last 10 years, Delhi's budget has grown 2.5 folds. The Arvind Kejriwal-led government even repaid the debt inherited from the previous Congress administration," the senior AAP leader added.
She demanded that BJP should implement all its promises without delay, particularly the promise of Rs 2,500 per month to women.
