Uttar Pradesh Sees 23 Deaths In 5 Major Accidents Within 24 Hours
Multiple road accidents in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh claimed 27 lives on Friday. Notably, 10 Maha Kumbh devotees were among the deceased in a Prayagraj accident.

As many as 27 people died in 8 major accidents in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh on Friday. The accidents occurred in different districts of the states and also involved Maha Kumbh devotees.
Prayagraj
In the worst accident of the day, 10 devotees died in an SUV-bus collision on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur Expressway. As many as 19 were injured in the accident. Police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy.
The injured were admitted to the hospital. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent his condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased.
Basti
In a similar incident, a car at high speed collided with tractor, killing four people on the spot. The car hit the tractor's trolley which was loaded with tent material. The accident twisted the bodies and metal in such a manner that the police had to use cutters to pry out the bodies trapped in the crushed car.
Amethi
In a major accident on the Purvanchal Expressway on Friday, a bus full of passengers collided with a parked truck at high speed. Four passengers including the driver were seriously injured. There were a total of 12 passengers on the bus.
Bulandshahr
A road accident in Jatpura under the Salempur police station area killed a woman and injured several people. A truck drove into a crowd of guests returning from a wedding. Salempur police are probing the accident.
Etah
Four people of the same family, including a doctor, died in another accident in Etah when a sedan overturned at Barsamai's Bamba on Sikandrarao Etah Jaleshwar Road. There were seven people in the car, a Swift.
Hathras
A late-night accident on Jalesar Road in the Thana Hasayan area of the Hathras district of UP claimed the lives of 4 people, including those of two children. The deceased, who are from the same family, drowned in the water when the car overturned into a drain. The family was from Jalesar.
Car Catches Fire In Prayagraj
A car transporting Maha Kumbh devotees was burnt to ashes fire in Prayagraj near the Tikar Mafi intersection at the Shastri Bridge entry point around 2:15 AM on Friday. Thankfully, all the devotees were rescued safely
Fire brigade teams reached the spot and controlled the fire. However, by the time the fire brigade teams reached, the car had been burnt to ashes. The car had a Lucknow number plate.
Apart from these accidents in Uttar Pradesh, two more major incidents were recorded in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
Buxar
A road accident around Thursday midnight in the Krishna Brahma police station area of the Buxar district in Bihar claimed two lives. The incident occurred near Kathar Khurd village on NH 922, where a family was going to take the holy dip at the Maha Kumbh in UP's Prayagraj from Bihar's Kishanganj.
Their car collided with a dumper parked along the road. There were a total of six people in the car in the accident, out of which two died, while the other four people were injured. The condition of two of the injured is critical.
Singrauli
The Madhya Pradesh accident occurred in the Singrauli district. Two youths on a bike died after an allegedly speeding coal-laden truck hit the two-wheeler. After the accident, a crowd of angry villagers set many vehicles on fire. CCTV footage of this accident has also surfaced.
