UP Weather Alert: Thunderstorms & Rain Expected in Several Districts Today – Check Forecast

Uttar Pradesh is experiencing a heatwave but rain is forecast for April 3, bringing temporary relief. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in several districts, along with strong winds.

Residents of Uttar Pradesh are feeling the intense summer heat and are bracing for an intense heatwave. However, a temporary relief may be on the way, as the India Meteorological Department has forecast rain in several parts of the state on April 3. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in districts like Kanpur, Mathura, Hathras, and Etah, with strong winds also likely in many areas. Despite this temporary relief, temperatures may rise by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius after 48 hours.

Weather Changes Likely On April 3

On Thursday, light rain is likely in parts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds may also occur in some areas. The weather department has specifically warned of possible thunderstorms and lightning in Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Ghazipur, and Ballia districts.

In addition, similar conditions are expected in Kanpur Dehat, Mathura, Hathras, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur. Wind speeds in some areas, including Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, and Agra, may reach 30-40 km/h.

Similar wind speeds are also likely in Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur.

The IMD sees no major temperature changes for the next 48 hours. However, after that, the maximum temperature could rise by 3-5°C, while the minimum temperature may increase by 2-3°C.

From April 4 onward, the weather is expected to clear up. Sunny conditions are likely across the state from April 5 to 8.

"Light rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in southern parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh on
April 2 and 3. The weather is likely to remain dry in western Uttar Pradesh on April 2 and light rain/thundershowers are
likely to occur at isolated places in southern parts of western Uttar Pradesh on April 3," an IMD bulletin read.

Temperature Forecast For UP

The IMD said that on Tuesday, the highest maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius in the state was recorded in
Fatehpur and Banda. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature was 36.7°C and the minimum was 19.7.

On Wednesday, the maximum and minimum temperatures in and around Lucknow are expected to be around 37°C & 21°C, respectively.
