The incident took place near the SP's office and police officers were allegedly present but did not intervene. The boy was unaware of what was going on and was targeted by the protestors.

A Muslim boy was assaulted by some members of a right-wing group in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh on Monday. The 15-year-old boy was returning home from school when the right-wing members dragged him and forced him to urinate on a Pakistan flag.

A video of the incident that has been widely shared on social media shows the class 9 student in school uniform being dragged and purportedly forced to chant "Hindustan Zindabad" and Bharat Mata Ki Jai".

According to locals, the incident took place in the vicinity of the office of city's Superintendent of Police (SP), with some police officers allegedly seen present but not intervening, reported The Times of India.

Pahalgam Terror Attack Protest

Meanwhile, a local media report suggested that the Pakistan flags which were pasted on the road in protest against the Pahalgam terror attack were being taken out by the boy when he was held by the protestors.

The incident was reported to have taken place at the city's Rasalganj Market under Banna Devi police station.

The boy was forced to chant "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and urinate on the Pakistan flag.

The boy told Navbharat Times that around 4-5 students helped him take out the Pakistan flags when the protestors started beating him and forced him to apologise with folded hands. They also made the boy stick the flags again, forcing him to urinate on the Pakistani flags.

The boy who is the son of a daily wage worker told locals he was not awre of what was going on. "I was walking with my friends, and they told me that there was something pasted on the road. So, I picked it up and they targeted me," he added, as per the TOI report.

Superintendent of Police, Aligarh City, Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said the police have taken cognisance of the matter and are being probed. The boy has been called to give all the details and based on his complaint, further steps will be taken, he added.
