Located within the East Fort in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala’s capital, is the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This ancient temple, a blend of Kerala and Dravidian architectural styles, is believed to be the world’s wealthiest temple. Dating back to the 8th century, it is one of the 108 Divya Desams—sacred Vishnu temples celebrated by the Tamil Azhvar saints. The temple’s deity, Lord Vishnu, is depicted reclining on Anantha, the hooded serpent.
