Burglars Break Into CBI Office In Tripura, Even Stole Doors And Windows

Police have arrested six suspects, recovered some stolen items, and are investigating potential thefts. They also found that a few of the detainees are drug addicts.

In a surprising turn of events, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) camp office was targeted with an unusual heist by a group of men in Agartala, Tripura. The theft was discovered on February 11 when CBI officials arrived at the highly secured Shyamali Bazar quarter complex, only to find the office completely stripped of all belongings and furniture.

According to NDTV, the thief had taken everything except its walls - steel almirahs, chairs, electric appliances, doors, and windows- leaving the office completely empty. The premises had been closed for the past five months.

Investigation Launched

After a complaint filed by CBI Inspector Anurag, an investigation was launched. The initial probe led to the arrest of two suspects-Biplab Debbarma and Raju Bhowmik. Four more suspects were later apprehended from the nearby Shyamali Bazar and Khejur Bagan areas on Agartala's outskirts.

Following this, the police successfully recovered eight steel almirahs, seven wooden chairs, four windows, a geyser, and four chairs. All those suspects in police custody will be produced in court.

In order to find out more stolen items and if bigger schemes are being suspected at work behind the theft, the police have continued their investigations. Police also discovered that a few of the detainees are also drug addicts, according to news agency PTI.
