Terrorist Killed In Pulwama, Was On Active Militants' List After Pahalgam Attack

The militants were identified as Asif, Amir and Yawar. All of them are local.

A terrorist was gunned down, while two others were still trapped in Pulwama. The militants were identified as Asif, Amir and Yawar. All of them are local and among the 14 active militants whose list was released after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Based on specific intelligence input, the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in Awantipora on Thursday morning. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops, and on being challenged, terrorists opened heavy fire and fierce gunfight ensued. Operation Nader is in progress, the Kashmir Zone Police said in a post on X.

This comes two days after three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were gunned down by security forces in South Kashmir's Shopian under Operation Keller. The terrorists included the operational chief of LeT, Shahid Kuttay.

Security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition in Shopian. They recovered weapons, comprising AK-series rifles, grenades, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, in the forest area where the Operation was carried out.

Pahalgam Terror Attack

Terrorists shot dead 26 tourists while they were vacationing in Pahalgam on April 22. The terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba's offshoot, The Resistance Front's (TRF), asked tourists their religious identity and shot the men dead.

A team from India is in New York to meet the 1267 sanctions committee of the UN Security Council in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.

The team is interacting with the Monitoring Team of the 1267 Sanctions Committee and other partner countries in the UN on Wednesday.  They will also meet the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), PTI reported, citing sources.

The 1267 ISIL (Da'esh), Al-Qaida Committee oversees the sanctions measures imposed by the Security Council.
