Teen Chased, Shot Dead In Bihar's Nawada, Locals Stage Protest

The teen had allegedly killed a person last year. He was detained in a juvenile home after that.

Bihar Crime News: A teenager was shot dead on Monday, April 28, evening in the Ram Nagar locality under the Nagar Police Station area in Nawada. The deceased was identified as 17-year-old Kaju Kumar, son of Rampadarath Yadav, a resident of Gopal Nagar. The incident appeared to be the fallout of an old rivalry.

Following the incident, angry locals blocked the road near Ram Nagar. Around midnight, approximately 5 hours later, SP Abhinav Dhiman arrived at the spot and controlled the situation by speaking to the people.

Teenager Chased And Shot Dead

According to witnesses, Kaju Kumar was passing through Ram Nagar, when the assailants opened fire on him. When Kaju tried to escape, he was chased. Kaju sought to run to his aunt's house in Gopal Nagar but fell to the ground and passed away. The assailants then fled the scene.

Police Constable Threatened Teen

Locals, alerted by the gunfire, rushed to the scene. The injured teen was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The family alleged that 10 days ago, a police constable named Uday Kumar had threatened to kill the teenager. The family is distraught following the incident.

Kaju Held For Murder Earlier

Kaju had previously been jailed in connection with a murder case. He was recently released. On August 3 last year, he attacked Rahul Kumar, son of Naval Kumar Yadav, and his nephew Shrawan Kumar with a knife, injuring them near the Sankatmochan Temple in the city. Rahul Kumar died during treatment that night. Following a complaint from Rahul's father, Kaju Kumar was arrested and imprisoned.

Following the shooting, Sadar SDPO Hulas Kumar, Nagar Thana chief Avinash Kumar, and several other police officers and personnel arrived at the scene. The forensic team also thoroughly investigated the scene. According to DSP Hulas Kumar, there was an ongoing dispute between the deceased and the accused. The deceased's family says that the accused, Uday Kumar, is a police officer who threatened the teenager 10 days prior. The police have detained one person and started an investigation.

Kaju was arrested and jailed by the police, but he pleaded to be a minor in court. After that, he was sent to a juvenile reform home. He was released on bail from the Juvenile Court.
