Rs 35 Lakh Looted In Daylight Robbery At Delhi’s Chandni Chowk Textile Office, Shots Fired

In Delhi's Chandni Chowk, armed robbers stole ₹35 lakh from a textile trader's office in broad daylight. Two men posing as customers broke in, fired shots, and fled with the cash in two minutes.

Unidentified individuals carried out a daring armed robbery at a textile trader’s office in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk area on Monday, making off with approximately Rs 35 lakh in cash. According to officials, the daylight incident unfolded around 2 pm and lasted just two minutes. CCTV footage showed the robbers leaving the area with a bag.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said a PCR call reporting the robbery was received by the Lahori Gate police station at about 2.30 pm. Upon arrival, police personnel discovered that the glass door of trader Vicky Jain’s office had been broken, news agency PTI reported.

Jain, 40, informed the police that two men entered his office under the guise of business. “They broke open the door and asked my employees to hand over all the cash. When they refused, the assailants fired another round. They then fled with the bag containing money. All of it was over in just two minutes,” he said, as per PTI.

Jain further stated that one of the men fired a shot at the door upon entry before pointing a gun at him. “The duo held him at gunpoint and took away approximately Rs 35 lakh in cash,” DCP Banthia added. A third individual, believed to be part of the gang, was reportedly waiting downstairs.

Case registered, probe underway

A case has been lodged under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Several police teams have been formed to probe the robbery, which occurred in the heart of the bustling commercial zone. Officials said CCTV footage from nearby areas is being analysed, and local sources have been activated to generate leads.

Meanwhile, a number of traders and shopkeepers gathered at the scene, demanding swift police action. “Such incidents are becoming common in the national capital. We want police to increase security in the area and take strict action against the accused,” a member of the local market association told police, as per PTI.
