'Govt Asked To Give Up Existing House To Get New Home': What Hathras Rape Victim's Father Told Rahul Gandhi
The father of the 2022 Hathras rape victim made serious allegations against the UP government, during Rahul Gandhi's visit to the family's home.
The father of the 2020 Hathras rape victim has levelled sensational allegations against the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh during his interactions with Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. First, in his letter to Rahul Gandhi, he claimed to have been put in a situation similar to being under "house arrest". Moved by his letter, Rahul Gandhi decided to meet the family on Thursday.
During the meeting, the father of the victim alleged that the family was told that they would get a house from the state government as compensation. "However, when the time came for the disbursal of the compensation, the government asked us to give up the ownership of our existing home," the father said.

The victim's family claimed that no member was provided with any job either as promised by the government earlier."There is no sign of any job offer. The compensation of Rs 25 lakh is about to end. We are worried about the future. We hope the government will take care of us," he said.
The family further alleged that the security personnel posted outside their home prevented them from going anywhere. "Children are not able to study nor are they able to get any work," he told ABP News.

The family said that even after four years, they had not gotten justice. Waiting for justice, the family has not immersed the ashes of the deceased as is the custom in Hinduism.
The family said that apart from Rahul Gandhi, they had written letters to CM Adityanath, Akhilesh Yadav, Chandrashekhar Azad, the President, and the Chief Justice of India regarding their pain. "Only Rahul Gandhi took notice of our letter. His visit brought us some relief," the family members said.
The family further expressed pain at the release of the three accused.
Mediapersons were allowed to meet the victim's family four hours after Rahul Gandhi left. The victim's brother alleged that they wanted to talk earlier, but were not allowed to interact with media personnel.

'Things They Said Shook Me': Rahul Gandhi After Meeting Hathras Family
Rahul Gandhi after meeting the family said that the family lives in fear despite four years of the incident. "The things they told me during the meeting shook me. The whole family still lives in fear. They are being treated like criminals. They cannot move freely - they are kept under surveillance of guns and cameras at all times," he said.
"The promises made to them by the BJP government have not been fulfilled. Neither have they been given a government job nor has the promise of shifting them to some other place been fulfilled," he said.

BJP Reacts To Victim's Allegations
The BJP alleged that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress were only playing dirty politics. "The court has given its decision. Who are we to question this," BJP spokesperson Rajesh Chaudhary told ABP News on the release of the three accused. The Congress countered, saying it was the state's failure to present evidence that allowed the three accused to walk free.
