Two Minor Girls Sexually Assaulted By Driver In Moving School Bus In Pune

Just months ago, two nursery students were sexually assaulted by a toilet cleaner, Akhshay Shinde, in their school in Thane's Badlapur.

Two minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted in a moving school bus by a 45-year-old driver in Pune. The incident comes two months after two nursery students were sexually assaulted by a toilet cleaner, Akhshay Shinde, in their school in Thane's Badlapur. Shinde was shot dead in a police encounter when he allegedly tried to snatch a police gun.

The Pune incident took place on September 30, police said, adding that a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act on October 2. Further investigation is underway, the police added.

The driver allegedly committed the crime over the past four days, Pune Times Mirror reported. After returning home, one of the girls experienced pain in her private parts. When her mother inquired, she narrated the incident to her mother.

Badlapur School Trustees Arrested

The president and secretary of the Badlapur school where the minor girls were sexually assaulted have been arrested in Karjat for not reporting the incident on time. The arrests were made after the Bombay High Court rejected their anticipatory bail pleas.

Akshay Shinde was being transferred from Taloja Jail to Badlapurin in relation to a domestic violence case filed by his wife. During the transfer, he allegedly snatched a weapon from a police officer and opened fire. Shinde was injured near the Mumbra bypass and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The Opposition criticised the Maharashtra government over the encounter. Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar had alleged, "It might be an attempt to protect the people related to BJP and RSS by killing the main accused.."

"The Mahayuti government's handling of the Badlapur sexual assault case involving two minor girls is appalling! First, there was a delay in filing the FIR, and now the prime accused has been killed in custody! This represents a complete collapse of law enforcement and the justice system. It is inexcusable and denies the people of Maharashtra the justice they deserve," NCP MP Supriya Sule had said.
