PM Modi To Flag Off Second Amrit Bharat Train In Bihar On April 24 — Check Route, Fare, And Features
Once operational, non-AC Amrit Bharat train service will be the second such modern state-of-the-art train connecting Bihar with the rest of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to flag off new train service in Bihar ahead of the Assembly polls in the state. According to the Railway Board, PM Modi will inaugurate a non-AC Amrit Bharat train service from Bihar's Saharsa to Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus via video conferencing on April 24.
Currently, Amrit Bharat trains operate on two routes: Darbhanga-Ayodhya-Anand Vihar (connecting Bihar and Delhi) and Malda Town-Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (linking West Bengal and Karnataka).
But with tomorrow's launch, Bihar will have another Amrit Bharat train, which will bring direct rail connectivity between Mithilanchal, the cultural capital of Bihar, and Mumbai, the financial capital of India.
"The Saharsa-Madhubani-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus service is the third route (overall) and the second for Bihar on which an Amrit Bharat train will be operational. It will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi (on April 24).
"The other important stations on this route include Hajipur, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Bhusaval," news agency PTI reported citing Dilip Kumar, Executive Director, Information and Publicity, Railway Board.
Amrit Bharat Train Features
The Amrit Bharat 2.0 train incorporates several key technological upgrades for enhanced safety. It includes crash tubes in couplers and an EP-assisted brake system for quicker stops. The train is also equipped with sealed gangways and a vacuum evacuation system.
Each coach has a talk-back unit, and the guard’s cabin has a response unit to further ensure passenger safety. For the first time, the non-AC coaches will be equipped with a fire detection system for enhanced passenger protection.
The semi-automatic couplers will eliminate jolts and noise during coupling or decoupling, while the deformation tubes will reduce impact in case of a collision. The locomotives at both ends will not only provide stability but also ensure higher speed and better operational efficiency.
According to the railway officials, the train can reach up to a maximum speed of 130 kmph. The service won't be hard on the wallet and would costaround Rs 450 for 1,000 km of journey.
"Amrit Bharat 2.0 trains are manufactured at ICF (Integral Coach Factory) and have push-and-pull technology, meaning they have engines on both ends that save turnaround time," Kumar added.
Highlighting the security features, he said: "It is for the first time that fire detection systems have been offered in non-AC coaches. There is an onboard Condition Monitoring System (OBCMS) for real-time monitoring of wheels and bearings."
