‘Nadaani Mein Kar Diya’: Accused On ‘Brother’ Tauseef's Role In Patna Hospital Murder, Denies Plotting At His Home
Nishu Khan, arrested for the murder of gangster Chandan Mishra, claims his friend Taushif committed the crime unknowingly. Khan denies planning the murder at his home, stating he was in Kolkata for medical treatment.

One of the accused in the killing of gangster Chandan Mishra inside a private hospital in Patna has claimed that his “brother” got involved in the crime unknowingly. Nishu Khan, arrested on Saturday from Kolkata along with others by a joint team of Bihar Police and the Bengal Special Task Force (STF), spoke about the main accused Tauseef's role while being taken to court on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters from an ambulance at Kolkata’s Alipore court, Khan said, “I met Tauseef in Patna’s Beur jail two years ago and we became good friends. He is my brother. I kept telling him not to get involved in any wrong activity. I told him repeatedly not to bring bad names to his family. Yet, he got involved out of ignorance,” Hindustan Times reported.
According to Khan, the group travelled to Kolkata in his vehicle following Mishra’s murder, and Tauseef drove the car. CCTV footage from the hospital showed Tauseef leading a team of five armed attackers who shot Mishra dead on July 17.
Khan also addressed a viral video showing him holding a firearm, saying, “It is a licensed gun. My father used to keep the gun. We are builders…”
As reported by news agency ANI, he added, “My brother Tauseef informed me after he committed this crime. My mind stopped working after I learned this. I don’t know the purpose of this murder; I didn’t even ask him about it. I asked him to surrender as well… He assured me that he was going to surrender on Monday… It is not true that the planning of the murder was done at my residence…”

When asked about Tauseef committing Chandan Kumar Mishra's murder, Nishu Khan is heard remarking, “Nadaani mein aisa kar diya (he did out of ignorance).” He denied knowing the motive behind the killing.
Nishu Khan Denies Police Claim That Bihar Hospital Murder Was Planned At His Home
The Patna police allege that the conspiracy was planned at Khan’s residence in the Samanpura locality, a claim he firmly denied. “There was no meeting at my house,” Khan told reporters, asserting that his visit to Kolkata was for medical reasons. “I had plans to go to Delhi for treatment, but my girlfriend wanted to check if the treatment could happen in Kolkata. That’s why we came here,” he said, adding that his girlfriend resides in the city.
Khan further claimed that after the killing, he advised Tauseef to turn himself in. “I don’t know why Chandan Mishra was killed. It is a false allegation that the murder was planned at my home. I didn’t know anything. I wasn’t there,” he added.
Denying his role in planning the murder, Khan also claimed he could not walk due to a leg injury from a gunshot wound in 2023.
Bihar Police Seek Remand, Say Conspiracy Hatched in Patna
According to Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma, the Bihar Police have arrested the prime accused, Tauseef alias Badshah, along with three others — Nishu Khan, Harsh, and Bhim — in connection with the daylight killing. Sharma stated that they were arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
“We are waiting for the arrival of Tauseef and three others, after which we shall immediately step up investigations into the case and ensure justice,” said Sharma, as quoted by PTI.
Accused’s Hideout in Kolkata
After the murder, Khan said they tried to find shelter in New Town and Park Street before settling at a guest house in Anandapur. “We were about to leave for Delhi when we were arrested. We came to Kolkata in my car from Patna. Tauseef drove it,” he said.
Khan was removed on a stretcher from the Anandapur guest house during Saturday night’s raid. Bengal STF and Bihar Police earlier raided a flat in the Sukhobristi housing complex in New Town, North 24 Parganas, believed to be linked to the accused. The flat had reportedly been rented six years ago by two engineering students from Bihar.
This housing complex was previously in the spotlight in 2021, when Punjab gangsters Jaipal Singh Bhullar and Jaspreet Jassi, wanted in over 45 cases including the killing of two police officers, were gunned down by Bengal STF while hiding there.
A woman, suspected to be associated with Khan, was also picked up during the Anandapur raid. Preliminary findings suggest she may have helped the accused find accommodation.
The SSP said based on CCTV and call records, the suspects were tracked to Kolkata. “Kolkata Police and its Special Task Force (STF) formed a team and provided all support to the Bihar Police in arresting the accused,” he said.
He added that one of Tauseef’s associates’ sisters was also questioned in Patna. The identities of the four remaining absconding shooters have been withheld for now.
Chandan Mishra, a parolee convicted in a murder case and a resident of Buxar district, was shot dead on Thursday morning.
