The SUV (Scorpio), reportedly travelling at a speed of 90 kmph from the Digha side, hit sub-inspector Deepak Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Awadhesh, and woman constable Komal, flinging them into the air. All three injured officers were rushed to a nearby hospital, where constable Komal, a native of Nalanda district, was declared dead. The SI and ASI remain in critical condition.

The hit-and-run has sparked outrage. An investigation is underway.

The driver of the Scorpio has been identified as one Ashok. There were at least two passengers in the car. They were detained by the police.

The speeding vehicle also suffered damage and had a BJP flag on it. Upon receiving information, senior officers, including SSP Avkash Kumar, reached the scene. Police confirmed that the SUV involved in the crash has been recovered. The driver, however, fled the scene and is currently absconding.
