Pak Intruder Shot Dead By BSF Troops Along Punjab Border In Pathankot

The intruder was shot at after the BSF personnel noticed some suspicious movement in the Border Outpost Tashpatan area along the IB.

The Border Security Force (BSF) troops on Wednesday shot a Pakistani intruder dead along the India-Pakistan international border at Pathankot in Punjab.

The intruder was neutralised early morning today when the BSF personnel noticed some suspicious movement in the Border Outpost Tashpatan area along the IB. Officials told news agency PTI that the intruder did not stop crossing over to the other side despite being challenged by the BSF troops.

The BSF troops shot at the intruder after sensing threat. His identity and notice is being ascertained, the officials said.

A BSF spokesperson, Jammu Frontier, stated that a strong protest will be lodged with Pakistan Rangers over the incident of infiltration. The BSF guards the India-Pakistan international border, including a 553-km stretch in Punjab.

BSF Mobilises More Troops Along IB In Punjab And Jammu

In a bid to strengthen the anti-infiltration grid and to keep a check on the intrusion of drones carrying ammunition or drugs, the BSF had ordered mobilisation of additional manpower at posts along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab and Jammu.

The Western Command of the BSF headquartered in Chandigarh also directed establishment of nine tactical headquarters along the front in these two regions, sources told PTI. The maximum intelligence and operations were shifted under the monitoring of a newly created control room.

A 'tac headquarter' is a forward base which is located closer to the border just near the border post and ahead of the battalion base in the rear. This 'tac headquarter' will have one senior commander from all verticals including the commanding officer (CO) of the battalion. It will also have the presence of one whose unit is deployed at these vulnerable border posts, sources said.

The Jammu frontier is responsible for guarding 191.66 km of the IB part from 40.07 km of the Line of Control (LoC).
