Over 1,500 Overground Workers and people with militant records and those with FIRs registered against them have been detained across Kashmir Valley since the Pahalgam attack. The Pahalgam terror attack claimed the lives of 26 people, including government officers.

Rajnath Singh Vows Strong Response
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh promised swift and decisive action against those behind the terror attack in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley. Rajnath Singh said: "We lost many innocent lives in the cowardly act in Pahalgam. We are deeply distressed. I express my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones." Singh reaffirmed India’s unwavering stance against terrorism, saying, "We have a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism."
The Defence Minister assured citizens that the government would leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice. “We will not only reach the perpetrators of this act but also the actors behind the scenes who have plotted such a sinister plot,” he vowed, highlighting the government’s commitment to uncovering every layer of the conspiracy.
As the nation mourns, Singh's message was clear: India will not be cowed by such acts of violence. "India is an old civilisation and a huge country. Such acts of terrorism cannot scare India in any way. The accused will soon see a loud and clear response, I want to assure the country," he added, sending a strong signal to those who threaten the nation’s peace.
The attack, which targeted victims based on their religion, has left communities shaken and searching for answers. The government’s promise of “every necessary and efficient step” offers a glimmer of hope to those demanding accountability and justice.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, too, stood in solidarity with the victims, declaring that the country would not bow to terror. After paying his respects to those killed, Shah shared his resolve on social media: "With a heavy heart, paid last respects to the deceased of the Pahalgam terror attack. Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared."
