Death Toll Rises To 5 As One More Body Recovered From Uttarakhand Avalanche Site, 3 Workers Still Missing
One more body of a Border Road Organisation worker was recovered during the ongoing search and rescue operation at the Uttarakhand avalanche site in Mana village.

Indian Army on Sunday recovered the body of one more Border Road Organisation (BRO) worker during the ongoing search and rescue operation at the Uttarakhand avalanche site in Mana village. The rescuers are racing against time as three workers remain missing.
The body is being brought to Mana post, Lt Col Manish Shrivastava PRO (Defence) Dehradun said.
The search operation had resumed in the morning today to trace the four missing labourers believed to be trapped under snow after the avalanche hit the BRO camp between Mana village and Badrinath on Friday. As many as 55 workers were buried inside eight containers and sheds when the avalanche struck them.
Later, the number of avalanche-hit workers was revised from 55 to 54 after one of them from Himachal Pradesh, who was on unauthorised leave without his employer's knowledge, reached home safely.
GPR System, Drones, Sniffer Dogs Deployed In Rescue Ops
Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said the rescue operation will gain momentum as the weather is clear and a ground penetrating radar (GPR) system is expected to arrive at the avalanche site from Delhi. "An Mi-17 helicopter is waiting in Dehradun to fly the GPR system to the avalanche site," he had said.
State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams with a sniffer dogs also arrived at the avalanche site to provide support in the search and rescue efforts.
Six helicopters, including three of the Indian Army Aviation Corps, two of the Indian Air Force (IAF), and a civil chopper hired by the Army, have been engaged in the search and rescue operation.
The injured workers who have been rescued were airlifted to an Army Hospital in Joshimath after the weather cleared up.
The four labourers still missing are Harmesh Chand from Himachal Pradesh, Ashok from Uttar Pradesh and Anil Kumar and Arvind Singh from Uttarakhand, Army said.
According to PTI, Lt Gen. Sengupta said that specialised RECCO radars, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), quadcopters will be pressed into service to trace the missing workers if weather permits. He also said that over 200 personnel from the ITBP, BRO, NDRF, SDRF, IAF, disaster management authority, district administration, health department and fire brigade are engaged in the ongoing rescue operations.
