Mistook For Rivals, Odisha Boys Flogged, Forced To Drink Urine In Puri

In Odisha's Puri district, two 16-year-old boys were brutally beaten and forced to drink urine by a group of miscreants who mistook them for their rivals.

Two boys were brutally beaten and forced to drink urine after a group of miscreants mistook the duo for their rivals in Odisha's Puri district. 

The 16-year-old boys were tied to an electric police, thrashed with iron rods, and burned with cigarette butts. 

One of the victims sustained serious head injuries in the assault that took place in Kotakosanga in the Puti district, reported India Today. According to a minor who accompanied the victims the incident took place when they went to the village fair. 

"We went to the fair. Mistaking us, they tied us to an electric pole and thrashed us," he said.

Father Expresses Anguish 

The father of one of the victims expressed anguish over the incident, saying that the assault stemmed from a confrontation between two villages. He demanded a strict punishment for the accused. 

"There was some dispute between the two villages. Later, they took the youths and thrashed them, even forcing them to drink urine. We want the culprits to be punished," he said.

The perpetrators allegedly mistook the identity of the two teens for members of a rival group. The situation escalated rapidly, and they were then brutally assaulted.

Rescue And Police Action

The two men were rescued after their family members were alerted about the assault. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The local police have taken cognisance of the incident and assured swift action. A police official said that those responsible for the incident will not be spared, stressing zero tolerance for such acts of violence.

Several individuals have been detained for questioning as part of the investigation. 

A preliminary investigation has indicated that a group of miscreants from Kotakosanga were behind the assault.
