Schizophrenic Mother Felt 'Threatened', Killed Karnataka Ex-Top Cop, Says Son In FIR: Report

Om Prakash, former Karnataka DGP, allegedly murdered by his wife reportedly suffering from schizophrenia.

Former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash's wife, Pallavi the main accused in the case has been suffering from severe mental health issues, the ex-top cop's son Kartik has claimed in the FIR, reported India Today. 

According to the family members, Pallavi frequently expressed fear and claimed that her husband might harm her. She also alleged that Prakash brandished a gun to threaten her on multiple occasions. 

As per the report, Pallavi often remained in a delusional state, imagining things and getting anxious over baseless thoughts.

Wife, Daughter Booked 

Om Prakash's wife, Pallavi and daughter, Kruti have been booked for the ex-top cop's murder based on Kartik's complaint. Om Prakash was found dead at his Bengaluru residence with multiple stab wounds. 

As per the complaint, Om Prakash's wife has been battling schizophrenia for the past 12 years and is undergoing treatment. Both Pallavi and Kruti have been detained by the police for questioning on Sunday. 

Om Prakash was found lying in a pool of blood when the police arrived at the scene, said  Bengaluru police chief B Dayanand. Multiple stab injuries were found on his stomach and neck. 

The Bengaluru police were alerted about the murder at around 4:30 pm on Sunday.

Karnataka Minister Reacts 

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said the investigation into the matter is underway and nothing can be concluded before the probe is completed. 

"Former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash has been murdered, they say by his wife. The investigation is on. Until and unless we get the investigation report, we cannot conclude anything," he said. 
"Once we get the report, we can say how the murder was committed...His wife has been secured and is being questioned. No arrests have been made so far. We do not know the motive for the murder," the minister added.
