Odisha: A group of unidentified miscreants opened fire and threw metal objects at the train Puri-New Delhi Nandan Kanan Express in Odisha on Tuesday morning. The incident took place when the express train was passing through the Bhadrak Railway Station in Odisha. There were no reports of any injuries in the incident. A police investigation has been initiated into the incident.

A window of the guard's coach was hit and broken in the firing, News 18 reported. The Nandan Kanan Express train runs between Puri (Odisha) and Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi and was enroute to Bhubaneswar when the firing took place.
According to a report by Times of India, two rounds of gunfire were discharged, which struck the window pane of a coach lavatory at around 9:30 AM between the Bhadrak and Baudapur section.
SK Bahinipati, Incharge, GRP Police Station Puri said: "Between 9.00-9.30 am, we got information that there was firing on Nandankanan Express train after it crossed Bhadrak. GRP and RPF escorted the train to Puri to ensure the safety of passengers. 4 teams including RPF, Police are engaged in the investigation."

An official statement issued by East Coast Railway read that the Railway Protection Force has been directed to attend to the train and coordinate closely with the government Railway Police and local police.
