Muskan Rastogi, Accused Of Killing Husband, Found Pregnant In Jail; Brother-In-Law Says ‘Will Accept Child If…’

Senior Jail Superintendent, Viresh Raj Sharma, stated that the test of Muskan was a part of health check-ups and pregnancy tests, which are done regularly.

Muskan Rastogi, who is in jail along with her lover for reportedly killing her husband, was found pregnant during a preliminary test, officials confirmed on Monday.

Viresh Raj Sharma, Senior Jail Superintendent, stated that the test of Muskan was a part of health check-ups and pregnancy tests, which are done regularly for every female inmate coming to the jail, according to a report by news agency PTI.

He mentioned that he has not yet received the doctor's official report, but was verbally informed that Muskan is pregnant. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ashok Kataria stated that a preliminary medical examination confirmed Muskan’s pregnancy. He added that the next step would be conducting an ultrasound to determine the exact condition and duration of the pregnancy.

Victim's Family Assures To Raise Child

Meanwhile, the victim, Saurabh Rajput's family, assured to raise the child if it is biologically linked to their deceased son. “If the child is of my brother Saurabh's, we will adopt and raise the child.” There has been no response from Muskan's family so far," said Bablu Rajput, brother of the deceased Saurabh Rajput and brother-in-law of Muskan Rastogi, TOI reported.

According to news agency IANS, the brother-in-law of Muskan Rastogi, Rahul, also demanded a DNA test of the to-be-born child. "If the child is Saurabh’s, we will accept it. And if it’s not Saurabh’s, we will not..," he said.

Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer, was brutally murdered on the night of March 4 at his residence in Indiranagar, Meerut. His wife, Muskan, along with her lover Sahil, allegedly drugged and stabbed him to death.

The two are accused of dismembering the body, severing his head and hands, and concealing the remains in a blue drum filled with cement. Investigations suggest that Muskan had been plotting the murder since November 2023.

Both accused are currently in judicial custody. Muskan is engaged in sewing work inside the jail, while Sahil is assigned to agricultural duties. They are also undergoing rehabilitation with assistance from a drug de-addiction centre.
