Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Dhule have been put under a five-day yellow alert. Residents in these areas have been advised to stay alert and remain aware of changing weather conditions.

Mumbai Weather Today: Mumbai and several other districts in Maharashtra are set to see wet and turbulent weather this week, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for rainfall across many regions. The alert, which is effective till May 23, signals the potential for thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning activity.
The forecast indicates that Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Dhule are under a five-day yellow alert. Residents in these areas have been advised to stay alert and remain aware of changing weather conditions. The IMD defines a yellow alert as an advisory level urging the public to be cautious due to expected adverse weather developments.
Thunderstorms, Lightning, And Gusty Winds Expected
As per the alert, "thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated places" are very likely in areas under the yellow alert. These weather events are typical during the pre-monsoon period, and residents are advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak thunderstorm hours.
Some districts in Konkan, Marathwada, North Maharashtra, and Western Maharashtra have been placed under a more serious orange alert on specific days. This warning level urges people to “be prepared to take action” as the conditions might escalate to heavy rainfall and dangerous winds.
