MP Rains: 7 Dead As Centuries Old Rajgarh Fort Wall Collapses In Datia
Datia Wall Collapse: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced a monetary assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the kin of each victims.
Datia Wall Collapse: Nine persons were trapped under the debris when a dilapidated wall of the historical Rajgarh Palace collapsed in Datia, Madhya Pradesh. While two of them could be saved after a long rescue operation, seven vctims lost their lives. The deceased include at least three children. All the bodies have been recovered. According to locals, this wall is about 400 years old, which suddenly collapsed as heavy rains lashed the region.
Nine members of three families got trapped under the debris as the wall fell. After the State Disaster Relief Force was informed, a team was sent and to the spot and they started relief and rescue work in the morning. The team succeded in rescuing two persons, but the rest could not be saved.
Collector Sandeep Makin and Superintendent of Police Virendra Kumar Mishra, along with the SDRF team, were present at the spot.

Who Were The Victims?
People from three families for trapped under the wall after it collapsed around 4 am.
They included 55-year-old Niranjan Vanshkar, his wife Mamta Niranjan, their daughter Radha, and sons Suraj and Shivam. From the family of one Kishen, his father Pannalal and wife Prabha are also trapped under the debris of the wall. The others included Munna Vanshkar and his son Aakash Vanshkar who were rescued by the SDRF team and and taken to hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
According to a MP government website, the Rajgarh Palace in Datia was built by then king Rao Subha Karan in the 17th century.
At the time of wrtiting, it had been raining in Datia for the last 30 hours. The continuous rain may have weakened the old wall and it eventually came down.
