Union Cabinet Minister Virendra Kumar has come up with a stern warning for people touching his feet. The Union Minister has put up signs at his office in Madhya Pradesh's Tikamgarh strictly prohibiting people from touching his feet.
"Touching feet is strictly prohibited," the message on the poster read followed by a stricter warning: "No work will be entertained for those who touch feet."
The message has left visitors both surprised and intrigued as Kumar's approach stands out in a political culture where many leaders expect or even encourage such gestures as a mark of respect.
Dr Virendra Kumar, who represents the Tikamgarh Lok Sabha constituency is among the invincible MPs who have never faced defeat in any elections. He contested the Tikamgarh Lok Sabha seat after the constituency became a reserved sear in 2009.
His winning streak continued in 2014, 2019, and now in 2024. His political journey began in 1996 when he was first elected as an MP from the Sagar constituency.
Currently, he is serving as a Union Cabinet Minister under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his humility and accessibility have earned him admiration across the constituency, as per an India Today report.
He could often be seen walking from his residence to the Collectorate office in Tikamgarh during his visits, engaging with locals on his way.
Kumar's journey in the Union Cabinet began in 2017 as a Minister of State. In 2019, he was elevated to the position of Cabinet Minister after securing another electoral victory. After his re-election this year, he retained his berth in the Union Cabinet under PM Modi.
