Meerut Building Collapse: Death Toll Rises To 10, Rescue Ops On
Rescuers pulled out 13 people out of the rubble following collapse of a three-storey building in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut on Saturday.
As many as ten people have died after a three-storey building collapsed in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. Initially, three people were reported to be killed due to the mishap but the death toll rose to ten as a search and rescue operation was launched to pull out 15 people trapped under debris.
In a statement, the administration said that one person is still feared trapped. The injured — Naeem (22), Nadeem (26), Saqib (20), and Saina (38) — were admitted to Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College where they are receiving treatment, said the relief commissioner's office.
The incident occurred on Saturday at around 5:15 pm in Zakir Colony of the city after which emergency services were immediately alerted. District Magistrate Deepak Meena confirmed that the three-storey house had collapsed.

The deceased were identified as Sajid (40), his daughter Saniya (15), son Saqib (11), Simra (one-and-half years), Reeza (7), Naffo (63), Farhana (20), Alisa (18), Aliya (6) and Rimsa (5 months), reported PTI.
The condition of Sofiyan (6) is stable, the administration said in the statement.
Senior officials reached the spot and oversaw the rescue operations which are being carried out by teams of the National Disaster Response Force, fire brigade, and police.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and directed district officials to provide proper treatment to the injured, said his office in a statement.
"UP CM Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the incident of a building collapse in Lohianagar of Meerut. The injured sent to the hospital & the CM directed district officials to provide them with proper treatment. CM directed the officials to reach the spot & expedite the relief work," the Chief Minister's Office said in a statement.
