'I'm Christian But..': Olympian Boxer Mary Kom Takes Holy Dip At Triveni Sangam During Maha Kumbh — WATCH

Mary Kom appreciated the state government as well as the Centre for good sanitation, elaborate arrangements, and effective administration for providing comfortable pilgrimage to devotees.

Boxer and Olympic medalist MC Mary Kom paid her visits at the ongoing Maha Kumbh mela in Prayagraj on Sunday. During her visit, she shared her experience of attending the religious event for the first time and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and efficient management of the mela ground.

Mary Kom applauded the state government as well as the Centre for good sanitation, elaborate arrangements, and effective administration for providing comfortable pilgrimage to devotees.

While sharing her experience, she also took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam - the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers during her visit. "It was a nice experience. The arrangements are very good. I would like to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. They have made it a world-class pilgrimage," said Mary Kom, news agency IANS reported.

MC Mary Kom Stresses At Sanatan-Christian Unity

Stressing the Sanatan-Christian unity, she said, "This is my first experience. Even though I am a Christian, I came here and supported the Maha Kumbh." "The arrangements are excellent. People from Russia, America, and other foreign countries are coming to experience the Maha Kumbh. This is a great initiative. I am so glad to be here and be a part of the Kumbh Mela," Mary Kom further added.

The Maha Kumbh is one of the most sacred Hindu festivals, commenced on January 13 with the 'Pavitra Snan' followed by the second day on Makar Sankranti, marking the beginning of the 'Amrit Snan.'

The festival, which will culminate on Maha Shivratri (February 26), includes key upcoming 'Snan' dates: January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), February 3 (Basant Panchami), February 12 (Magh Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivratri).

Despite the harsh winter, thousands of devotees are gathering at the Triveni Sangam to partake in this holy tradition. The administration has carefully organised the event to honor the customs of Sanatan Dharma while ensuring discipline and precise timing.

As per the latest figures, over 10 crore devotees have already taken a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, marking a historic turnout for the Maha Kumbh.
