Manipur's Territorial Integrity Intact, Assembly Can Be Revived In Future: Sambit Patra On President's Rule
Following President's rule in Manipur, BJP's Sambit Patra pledged to maintain territorial integrity and restore peace, assuring that the suspended assembly can be revived when deemed appropriate.

Following the imposition of President's rule in Manipur, BJP's northeast region in-charge, Sambit Patra, on Friday said that the state's territorial integrity would remain intact and vowed BJP's commitment to restoring peace in the state.
He also said that the assembly is not dissolved and can be revived on any future date, as deemed fit by the President of India, depending on the circumstances and the situation on the ground in Manipur.
BJP MP Sambit Patra said, as quoted by news agency ANI, "After the report by the Governor of Manipur, President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has put the state assembly of Manipur under suspended animation. Meaning, that the assembly of Manipur can be revived on a future date as and when the President of India deems fit, depending on the circumstances... As far as the BJP is concerned, we are committed to the continuing efforts of peace in the state, and to maintaining the territorial integrity of Manipur. There will be no compromise. Any kind of illegal infiltration into Manipur will not be allowed and will be dealt with severe hand..."

With some Kuki groups demanding a separate state, Patra's reassertion of the BJP's stand against it will reassure the Meiteis, who are in a majority but have been raising concerns over a host of issues, including alleged demographic imbalance, and are vehemently opposed to any division of Manipur.
President's Rule has been imposed in Manipur after the resignation of N Biren Singh as the Chief Minister. Singh resigned on February 9. His resignation came at a time when a no-confidence motion (by the Congress) was looming in the state assembly. The Manipur Assembly has a tenure till March 2027.
