Maharashtra Ex-Minister Eknath Khadse's Son-In-Law Held In Pune Rave Party Raid

Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch team raided the premises and seized narcotic substances including ganja, along with liquor and hookah setups.

Pune police detained seven individuals, including Pranjal Khewalkar, the son-in-law of former Maharashtra minister Eknath Khadse, after conducting a raid on a rave party in the early hours of Sunday. The party took place at a studio apartment in Pune’s upscale Kharadi locality.

Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch team raided the premises and seized narcotic substances including ganja, along with liquor and hookah setups. The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior officials.

“We had received information about a rave party being organised at an apartment in Kharadi. Based on that, a raid was carried out. We found narcotics and seized hookah and liquor from the spot,” said a senior police official. “Seven persons, five men and two women, have been taken into custody, and a case has been registered,” the official added.

Eknath Khadse Reacts

The incident has sparked political reactions, with Eknath Khadse, currently a leader with the opposition NCP (Sharad Pawar faction)—demanding an investigation into whether there was a political motive behind the police action. His daughter, Rohini Khadse, is the state president of the NCP (SP) women’s wing.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy leader Sushma Andhare commented that the raid may be seen as a warning to those voicing criticism against the current government.

The detained individuals are currently under investigation, and further legal proceedings are expected in the coming days. No official statement has been released yet regarding the specific charges to be applied.

The case continues to draw attention given the political affiliations of those involved, with opposition leaders questioning the timing and intent of the enforcement action.
