Maharashtra CM Fadnavis Asks Minister Dhananjay Munde To Resign
Munde has been under fire from the opposition after his aide Walmik Karad was arrested in an extortion case linked to the murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh in December last year.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has asked Minister Dhananjay Munde to resign. The minister is likely to resign from the post on Tuesday, as per ABP News Sources.
Munde has been under fire from the opposition after his aide Walmik Karad was arrested in an extortion case linked to the murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh in December last year. Deshmukh (25), a three-time sarpanch was abducted, tortured and murdered on December 9, 2024. The State-CID has filed 1,200 pages in the Santosh Deshmukh murder case and two related cases in a court in Beed district.
Munde met Chief Minister Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio, on Monday. Later, he met Deputy Chief Minister and NCP President Ajit Pawar and state NCP President Sunil Tatkare.
Munde is the NCP MLA from Parli in Beed district. He was earlier the guardian minister of Beed. Currently, NCP head Ajit Pawar is the guardian minister of Beed district along with Pune.
Munde Will Resign Before Budget Session: Karuna Sharma
Earlier, Munde's estranged first wife Karuna Sharma claimed senior leaders have sought his resignation and it will be announced before the budget session of the state legislature.
As per a report attached in the chargesheet filed in the Santosh Deshmukh murder case, Karad had allegedly asked the other accused to get rid of whoever came in the way of his bid to extort money from a wind energy company, police have said.
Sharma said, "There is nothing left now (as Karad's name is in the chargesheet). For moral or whatever other reasons, Munde will have to resign."
