The weather department has predicted mostly sunny skies with partly cloudy conditions for the next few days. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33°C and 24°C respectively on Tuesday.

The weather department has advised people to follow the following instructions as high heat can cause many serious health problems including sunstroke, heatstroke, and dehydration.

  • Avoid dehydrating drinks such as alcohol, coffee, tea, and carbonated soft drinks during the day.
  • Wear loose, light-coloured cotton clothes.
  • There is a high risk of fire outbreaks and spread in places like markets, buildings, and waste collection and disposal centres (dumping yards). Fire audits should be conducted and proper safety precautions should be taken.
  • There is a possibility of forest fires spreading in the heatwave. Those living near forest areas and tourists should be especially vigilant.
  • Construction workers, agricultural workers, street vendors, and those engaged in any other strenuous work should adjust their working hours.
