Karnataka Braces For Widespread Rain This Week As Monsoon Gains Momentum Again

As Karnataka faces increased rainfall due to an active southwest monsoon, IMD forecasts light to moderate rain across most districts, with heavy rain and strong winds in Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu.

Karnataka is expected to witness a fresh spell of rain over the weekend and into next week, as the southwest monsoon remains active across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall across southern interior regions, with coastal and northern areas also likely to receive showers under normal monsoon conditions.

Authorities at Bhadra Dam in Chikkamagaluru’s Lakkavalli have issued a precautionary alert due to rising water levels, urging residents downstream to stay vigilant, reported The Hindu.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall alerts have been issued for several districts, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu. Coastal areas may see isolated intense showers, while Malnad and southern interior districts are set to experience strong winds and heavy rain at one or two locations.
