'Jungle Raj In Bihar': Another Cop Killed In Munger, Opposition Targets Nitish Kumar Govt

Santosh Kumar, an ASI in Munger, died after an incident sparking political debate. RJD spokesperson Mritunjay Tiwari stated the government's removal benefits the public.

Munger Policeman Shot Dead: Bihar's law & order has seemingly deteriorated. This couldn't be happening at a worse time for Nitish Kumar, as the assembly elections are just months away. It's not just the civilians; even the police are not safe and are being murdered at will. The latest victim of such a violent crime was ASI Santosh Kumar, who passed away on Friday.

ASI Santosh Kumar died in Patna during treatment. He was attacked with a sharp weapon in Munger last Friday, March 14. Given his serious condition, doctors had referred him to Patna. He died late Friday night during treatment in Patna.

Four persons have been arrested so far.

Bihar Police Association president Mrityunjay Kumar Singh said, "ASI Santosh Kumar Singh was attacked when he was trying to solve a dispute. He was taken to the hospital... He died around 3 AM [on Saturday]. A similar incident occurred in Araria a few days ago, where police personnel were attacked when they went to arrest miscreants. We demand compensation and a job for ASI Santosh Kumar's family."

ASI Santosh Kumar's body will be taken to Munger and a guard of honour will be accorded at the police lines. Later, the body will be sent to his ancestral village, Mohania, in Bhojpur.

Munger SP Syed Imran Masood said: "The family of one Ranbir Kumar, who were intoxicated, were creating a ruckus in Nandalpur village. ASI Santosh Kumar Singh reached the spot to carry out an investigation. But the family attacked Santosh Kumar Singh and his team, injuring him. He was admitted to the hospital and was later referred to Patna. Ranbir Kumar's family is now absconding and efforts are underway to arrest them."

RJD Says 'Jungle Raj' Prevails In Bihar

Following the incident, politics in the state has once again intensified. The RJD has attacked the government. RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said the public will be truly served if the Nitish Kumar government departs. "Two ASIs have been murdered in two days and Nitish Kumar is sleeping," he said.

"A jungle raj prevails in Bihar. If police officers are not safe, then ordinary people are at the mercy of God," he said.

This Is Part Of A Conspiracy: BJP

Following the RJD's statement, the BJP hit back saying this was the Opposition's conspiracy. Party spokesperson Prabhakar Mishra said that the way police personnel are targeted in Bihar could be part of a conspiracy. "This could also be the Opposition's method of defaming the government," he said
