Infosys Fires Techie Caught Filming Female Colleague In Office Washroom

The female employee from Infosys became suspicious after noticing a reflection from an adjacent cubicle while using the washroom.

IT giant Infosys has terminated the 28-year-old software engineer who was arrested for allegedly filming a female colleague inside a washroom at the company’s Electronics City campus in Bengaluru.

The accused, identified as Swapnil Nagesh Mali, hails from Sangli, Maharashtra. The incident took place on June 30, but the arrest was made on Wednesday following a formal complaint by the survivor.

Techie Caught Red-Handed in the Act

According to police officials, the woman employee became suspicious after noticing a reflection from an adjacent cubicle while using the washroom. On investigating, she discovered Mali standing on a toilet seat, attempting to film her using his mobile phone through a gap in the partition.

“She caught him red-handed and immediately confronted him,” a police officer said, requesting anonymity. She then alerted colleagues and HR personnel, who rushed to the spot and seized Mali’s phone. Video clips of the woman were found during the examination.

Infosys issued a statement on Wednesday confirming that the accused had been terminated following an internal inquiry. “The safety, dignity, and well-being of our employees are of utmost importance. The individual has been dismissed from service,” the company said.

The woman’s family rejected any private settlement and proceeded to file a complaint at the Electronics City police station.

Investigation Underway

“Swapnil Mali has been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to outraging a woman’s modesty and invasion of privacy,” said Inspector BG Naveen Kumar. Police are also probing whether Mali recorded other employees or shared the videos.

The case has sparked fresh concerns over workplace safety and digital privacy in corporate environments.
