IndiGo Flight From Tirupati Returns Midway After Technical Snag, Lands Safely

An IndiGo flight from Tirupati to Hyderabad was forced to return mid-air due to a minor technical snag on July 20. All passengers landed safely and were either rebooked or refunded.

A routine flight from Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati to Hyderabad was disrupted on Sunday evening when IndiGo flight 6E 6591 encountered a technical issue shortly after takeoff. The aircraft, which departed from Tirupati Airport at around 7:55 PM on July 20, 2025, was observed circling in the air for nearly 40 minutes before returning to the airport as a precautionary measure.

All passengers onboard the flight were safely brought back to Tirupati. Apart from that, no injuries or in-flight emergencies have been reported at all. According to a statement cited by ANI, the flight crew decided to initiate a precautionary return to ensure the safety of all travellers and crew members.

Passengers Re-Accommodated After Safe Landing

Following the safe landing, IndiGo ensured that all the affected passengers were taken care of. Flyers were rebooked on the next available flights to Hyderabad. The quick response of the airline in managing passenger concerns and rearrangements has helped prevent major disruptions to further travel schedules.

Though the aircraft experienced only a minor snag, standard safety protocol dictates that flights return for inspection whenever in-flight issues are detected, especially when the origin airport is still within close range.

Aircraft Grounded For Detailed Technical Checks

As per aviation norms, the aircraft involved in the incident will remain grounded at Tirupati Airport until a thorough technical examination is conducted. Maintenance teams will carry out inspections and necessary repairs to ensure airworthiness before the aircraft is cleared for further operations.

Such mid-air turnbacks, though unsettling for some passengers, are a routine safety precaution across airlines to avoid any potential risks. Aviation analysts noted that while inconvenient, these actions reflect the airline’s commitment to operational safety.

IndiGo has not released a detailed technical report yet, but officials confirmed that all standard procedures were followed.
