'Indians Must Rise As One': VP Dhankhar At 37th BIMTECH Convocation, Urges To Prioritise Duties Over Rights
VP Jagdeep Dhankhar urged graduates at the convocation ceremony to place their duties over fundamental rights, especially when "our country has been challenged in Pahalgam."

Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) on Monday hosted its 37th Annual Convocation at the India Exposition Mart Ltd, Greater Noida. The graduation ceremony was virtually graced by Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Addressing the gathering, Jagdeep Dhankhar, shared a strong message of national unity, resilience, and visionary leadership in the face of internal and external challenges as he urged graduates to place their duties over fundamental rights.
Highlighting the situation after the recent Pahalgam terror attack, Dhankhar said: "Our country has been challenged in Pahalgam. The greatest assurance we have at the moment is our visionary leadership. But we as Indians must rise as one person. Forces inimical to Bharat within and without have to be neutralized. These are occasions when we must place our fundamental rights at a level which is lower than fundmental duties.

He hailed India as a "global center of opportunity and growth" and spoke about India’s evolving role on the global stage, noting the unprecedented pace of global change.
"Right now the world is changing at a pace which is much more beyond industrial revolutions. Bharat at the moment is a global center of opportunity and growth. Amongst large economies facing difficulties, we have managed to sustain our trajectory and traversing from Fragile 5 to largest 5 economies of the world. Let us resolve that we work in a direction to iron out the rough edges and make our democracy blossom by nurturing democratic values at the highest level, in highest commitment,” he said.
The graduation ceremony was held for the cohort of PGDM, PGDM (Retail Management), PGDM (Insurance Business Management, PGDM (International Business), PGDM (Online), and for Fellow Programme in Management (FPM/EFPM). It was presided by Jayashree Mohta, Chairperson, Board of Governors, along with Dr. Prabina Rajib, Director, BIMTECH, Mr. Nand Gopal Khaitan, Senior Partner (Dispute Resolution, Real Estate), Khaitan & Co, and Mr. Vikash Kandoi, Member-Board of Governors.
Delivering the welcome address, Jayashree Mohta, Chairperson, Board of Governors, shared: "Convocation is not merely a ceremony, but a celebration of perseverance, learning, and transformation. Over the years, our rich legacy has fostered collaborations between academia and industry, ensuring our students are equipped not only with knowledge but with real-world insights, ethical grounding, and a global perspective. As future leaders, I urge you to bring integrity, inclusivity, and impact to every boardroom, start-up, and enterprise you become part of."
The 37th graduating batch consisted of around 713 students from various courses. The ceremony also honoured academic achievements of 18 graduates with medals and cash prizes.
