Waterlogging Woes In Hyderabad After Heavy Rain Lashes City Amid Yellow Alert: VIDEO

The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert, forecasting more rain and gusty winds.

The normal lives of people in Hyderabad were disrupted after heavy rain in the city resulted in waterlogging. Several parts of the city witnessed knee-deep water, including Santosh Nagar and Champapet areas, due to the heavy rain. 

The India Meteorological Department has sounded a yellow alert in the city. "Generally cloudy
sky. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds (40-50kmph) are very likely to occur," said the IMD. 

The weather department has also alerted for water pooling on roads and low-lying areas and wet and slippery roads. It has also suggested restricted movement as a suggested action for the impact of the rain. 

The IMD has also suggested that civic authorities display necessary advisories and warnings.

Apart from state capital Hyderabad, the IMD has predicted heavy rain in severa other districts including Adilabad, KomaramBheem
Asifabad, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and, Jogulamba Gadwal districts.  

Heavy Rainfall In Other Parts Of India 

In its latest update, the IMD forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy falls at isolated places over south peninsular India during June 12-15 and over Konkan and Goa on June 13 and June 14.

It has issued a seven-day warning for Karnataka, predicting "widespread" rainfall in nearly all districts until June 17.

The Hubballi area in the Dharwad district of Karnataka experienced torrential rainfall on Wednesday causing massive waterlogging in several parts of the district, especially in Hanashi village.

Heatwave In North India  

The weather department has also said that heatwave conditions are likely to continue over Northwest India, with severe heatwave conditions at isolated pockets over West Rajasthan until Thursday and abate thereafter.
