'Don't Forcibly Put Colours': CM Yogi's Message To People Amid Holi-Juma Namaz Row

CM Yogi Adityanath promoted the celebration of cultural Holi through reviving traditional songs and stressed the unity showcased during the recent Maha Kumbh Mela as an example of religious harmony.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Thursday urged people to celebrate the festival of Holi in harmony following the centuries-old traditions of Sanatan Dharma.

The CM also stressed that Holika Dahan should symbolise the burning away of ego and negative tendencies as he spoke at the Bhakt Prahlad Shobha Yatra organised by the Holika Dahan Utsav Samiti in Gorakhpur.

His remark assumed significance in view of the controversies courted over Holi and Friday prayers during the ongoing month of Ramadan on Friday.

Don't Forcibly Apply Colours: Adityanath

While stressing that festivals bring greater joy when celebrated with mutual respect, Adityanath appealed to people not to forcibly apply colours on others, especially those who are unwell.

"People should celebrate Holi in harmony, following the centuries-old traditions of Sanatan Dharma. Festivals bring greater joy when celebrated with mutual respect," he said.

He also called for a more traditional and culturally rich celebration of the festival of colours and emphasised the need to revive the age-old Holi songs.

"Traditional folk songs and ballads are a vital part of our history. By next year, efforts should be made to form community groups in localities to revive and promote Holi songs," he said.
