Hathras Gang Rape: Five Minors Held For Raping 23-Year-Old Woman
Five minors accused of gang-raping a 23-year-old woman in UP's Hathras on August 2 have been apprehended.
Hathras News: Uttar Pradesh police have apprehended five minors accused of gang-raping of a 23-year-old woman in Hathras. The woman was allegedly gang-raped under the Hathras Junction Police Station jurisdiction on August 2.
Reportedly, the woman initially tried to hide the incident from her family members. However, when they came to know about this, they contacted the police and an FIR was filed on August 7, according to local media reports.
According to the complaint, the woman had gone to meet an acquaintance named Deepak, who, along with another man, Rishi, took her to a secluded place where three others, Akash, Mahendra, and Hariom later came.
The FIR said the five raped her and fled from the spot. They had been absconding since Wednesday.
"All five accused have been apprehended. As they are minors, they'll be produced before the juvenile justice boards and further action will be taken against them accordingly," said Hathras Additional Superintendent of Police in a video message.

The case is a stark reminder of the infamous Hathras gang rape case some three years ago when a 19-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gang-raped by four upper-caste men. The victim died 11 days later in Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital in September 2020.
Following the incident that caused nationwide outrage, the Uttar Pradesh government had ordered a CBI probe into it. In March last year, a special court in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district convicted the main accused – Sandeep Singh – and acquitted the three others.
