18 Schools In Haryana Reports 0% Pass Rate In Class 12 Exams

After the Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) announced the Class 12 board exam results, focus has now shifted to both government and private schools that registered extremely poor performance.

A list of 100 underperforming schools, including 18 schools that marked a zero percent pass rate, was compiled by the Board and submitted to the Directorate of Education for required action, according to a report by TOI.

The Chairman of the Haryana Board of School Education, Dr Pawan Kumar, confirmed that this year, the overall pass percentage for Class 12 was 85.66 per cent, but analysis of district-wise results disclosed shocking disparities. It was reported that multiple schools failed to cross even the 35 per cent pass mark, with 18 institutions securing zero success in the board exam.

“One school had 13 students, and not a single student passed,” said Dr Kumar. He further noted that in the majority of schools with zero pass rates, only one or two students had appeared for the exams, but the results remained disappointing.

Copy Of Report Sent To Ministry Of Education

The Board has requested the Directorate to consider appropriate steps, including potential disciplinary action against the staff of these low-performing schools. A copy of the report was also sent to the Ministry of Education, underscoring the gravity of the matter.

HBSE Chairman recommended compulsory orientation and training programs for teachers from these schools. He also emphasized the need for direct interaction with students and their parents to uncover the root causes behind the poor performance.

“Understanding the root of such poor performance is essential. Teachers must not only improve pedagogical methods but also reconnect with students and their challenges,” Dr Kumar said.

The HBSE Class 10 and 12 exams were conducted from February 27 to April 2, 2025, across 1,434 examination centers throughout the state. A total of 5,22,529 students participated in the examinations.
