2 Women, Including Israeli National, Raped While Stargazing
Two women, including an Israeli national, were allegedly gang-raped by three men near the Hampi heritage site while they were stargazing.
On March 26, a 29-year-old homestay operator, three male tourists, and an Israeli tourist had gone to the Tungabhadra Canal near Sanapur Lake for stargazing, said the police.
While they were camping, three men approached the tourists on a motorcycle asking them for petrol in Kannada, the homestay owner told the police. When the homestay owner told them there was no petrol station, one of the three men demanded Rs 100.
On repeatedly insisting, one of the male tourists gave them Rs 20. When they refused to give more money, an altercation broke out between the two parties and two men allegedly assaulted and raped the homestay operator and Israeli tourist.
The third man pushed the male tourists into the water canal. One of the three male tourists, identified as sa Bibash from Odisha was later found dead while the other two managed to escape.
