Gurugram Administration Issues WFH, Online Classes Advisory For August 25 Due To Heavy Rain

Gurugram authorities advise offices and schools to allow work from home on August 25 following heavy rain, waterlogging and traffic congestion.

Gurugram authorities have advised corporate offices, government and private schools, and other institutions to allow employees and staff to work from home on August 25 following heavy rainfall in the district. The advisory comes amid concerns over waterlogging and traffic congestion across several parts of Gurugram. Authorities said the move is aimed at reducing traffic on the roads and allowing civic agencies to carry out repair and maintenance work on roads and drains.

Roads Under Water

Key locations including Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Railway Road, Sector 5, Old Delhi Road, Mehrauli Road and Basai Road were badly affected by the rain. Naharpur underpass was also waterlogged, while parts of old Gurugram, including Sadar Bazar, Gurdwara Road and Old Delhi Road, witnessed traffic jams well into the afternoon.

Commuters were seen wading through flooded streets as traffic moved slowly across several stretches. A senior traffic police officer said vehicular movement was particularly affected near the Sirhaul border, Rajiv Chowk and Narsinghpur.

Traffic police personnel were deployed at key points to manage congestion and keep vehicles moving.

A large stretch of the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway near Cyber Hub, opposite Gateway Tower Metro station, was submerged, disrupting movement on one of the city’s busiest routes.

Civic Teams On Ground

Sheetla Mata Road, which has emerged as one of Gurugram’s flood-prone stretches during the monsoon, was among the worst-affected areas.

Municipal Corporation officials remained on the ground as the rain continued. Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya and Additional Municipal Commissioner Yash Jaluka inspected several waterlogging-prone locations along with officials from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, National Highways Authority of India and the Municipal Corporation.

Dahiya directed officials to keep pumping systems operational in waterlogged areas and ensure that teams reached affected locations immediately after receiving complaints.

Officials were also instructed to drain accumulated water promptly to minimise disruption to traffic and residents.
