Gujarat: 5 College Students Among 7 Killed In Car Crash On Junagadh-Somnath Highway

Seven people were killed in a car accident in Junagadh, Gujarat, when their speeding car crashed into a divider and a second speeding vehicle.

Seven people were killed in a road accident on Monday in Gujarat's Junagadh after their car hit a divider and collided with another vehicle. 

The students' car, which was speeding, hit the divider and toppled onto the other side of the road crashing into a second car that was also speeding, according to the police, reported India Today. Seven people died on the spot in the accident. 

The students were on their to college for an exam in one car, while two other victims were in the second car. 

The accident took place at around 8 am on Monday, near Bhanduri village on the Junagadh-Somnath highway. Following the accident, local residents quickly gathered at the spot and alerted the police and emergency services, reported Hindustan Times. 

Police and ambulance along with the fire department reached the spot and the fire department managed to control the blaze which was ignited due to the collision.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the police are investigating the cause of the accident.

In another road accident, three men died after their motorcycle lost control and fell into a ditch on the Kon-Teluguduwa in Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra, said the police on Monday. 

The accident took place on Sunday at around 7 pm on Sunday. "The motorcycle went out of control near village Bilrua and fell into the ditch, due to which three youths riding on it suffered injuries. On being alerted, the local Kon police reached the spot and took all of them to the Community Health Centre in Kon where doctors declared them dead," Police Circle Officer Harsh Pandey said.

The three men were not wearing helmets, said Inspector in-charge of Kon police station Gopal Gupta. The deceased were in their twenties.
