Greater Noida Hit & Run: 17-Year-Old Loses Control Of Speeding SUV, Kills Woman

The CCTV footage from Greater Noida shows the speeding SUV losing control and colliding with the pedestrian.

A minor was taken in custody after he allegedly rammed an SUV into a pedestrian in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida, killing the woman on the spot. The CCTV footage of the incident, which reportedly occurred near the CRC Society of Greater Noida's Bisrakh area on Wednesday morning, has gone viral on social media.

In the video, it can be seen that the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle while overtaking a tractor. The vehicle drifts and strikes the woman from behind at a very high speed. Due to the impact of the collision, the victim got dragged along the car and was rammed into a pole along with the vehicle. 

The deceased was identified as 27-year-old Shilpi, who was originally from Jatpura in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district. She was on her way to work at a construction site when the speeding car fatally hit her, according to a report by NDTV. 

As per the report, the driver fled the scene after the accident. The police, meanwhile, seized the SUV and launched a search for the driver. Police tracked the 17-year-old accused on Friday and took him into custody. 

In another similar incident, a speeding car rammed into a shop in the Surajpur area of Greater Noida. A person, who was present inside the shop, was injured in the incident. 

In CCTV camera footage of the incident, the silver car can be seen speeding, before it collides with the shop.  The man standing inside the shop was injured and is reportedly in critical condition.
