A BA student allegedly died by suicide in her hostel room at the Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida. Police found a note from her room in which she had mentioned that she was not happy with herself.

The BA Honours Political Science student was suffering from depression and undergoing treatment. The deceased has been identified as Vanshika Arora, a resident of Kanpur.

Vanshika used to stay alone in her room, a Jagran report said, quoting police officials. Police took the body into their custody and informed her family.

When the hostel warden reached her room, the door was locked from inside. The warden knocked on the door and called out her name. Hearing the voice, other students also came out and started knocking on Vanshika's door. After not getting any response, they pushed the door and the latch opened.

When they went inside, they found the body of the student hanging from a fan in the room. The matter was reported to the university management and the Ecotech One police were informed. The police reached the spot, inspected the room and recovered the suicide note. The suicide note revealed that the student was mentally ill for a long time; she was undergoing treatment for depression and was also taking medication.

The student used to remain quiet most of the time at the university, the Jagran report said. It added that she would lock herself in her room and spend most of her time alone after attending classes.

For the last one and a half months, she had completely stopped talking to her friends.
