Grand Celebration In Mumbai After Drug Peddler Released On Bail, 45 Booked
Soon after his release, Khan was joined by former inmates and dozens of associates outside the jail. The group then travelled in a car convoy to Nayanagar in Mira Road.

A drug peddler's release from jail led to a grand celebration in Mumbai. Kamran Mohammad Khan, booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, was released from Thane Central Jail on July 16. His return home was marked by a grand public gathering, complete with firecrackers, loud music, and celebratory slogans.
However, the celebration has landed 45 people in legal trouble. The Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police on Saturday registered a case against 45 people under sections 189 (unlawful assembly) and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Maharashtra Police Act.
Inmates Join Drug Peddler In Celebration
Soon after his release, Khan was joined by former inmates and dozens of associates outside the jail. The group then travelled in a car convoy to Nayanagar in Mira Road. There, they assembled near a hotel and began celebrating in full public view, bursting firecrackers and blaring music into the night.
"The group created an atmosphere of fear and public disturbance," an MBVV police official said, adding that the entire incident was caught on camera and widely shared on social media platforms.
In the viral videos, Khan is seen embracing friends and family while others light firecrackers, causing heavy smoke in the residential area. Police said the group openly violated prohibitory orders in place at the time.
Taking suo motu cognisance of the viral clips, the Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police registered a case on Saturday against 45 individuals under Section 189 (unlawful assembly) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.
Authorities have warned against glorifying or celebrating individuals accused or convicted of criminal activities, stating that such actions undermine law enforcement and disturb public order. Further investigation is underway to identify all participants involved in the gathering.
