Out To Update Aadhaar, Elderly Couple Dies After Being Hit By Car In Delhi
Police said they have seized the car involved in the accident. A notice has been issued under Section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act asking the vehicle's registered owner to appear for investigation.

An elderly couple died on Monday after being hit by a car in outer north Delhi's Swaroop Nagar. The couple was crossing the road below a foot over bridge when they were hit by a car. The accused, who brought the couple to the hospital, was arrested by the police later in the day.
The deceased have been identified as Somdutt (66) and his wife Rampyari (65), residents of F block at Swaroop Nagar’s Sindhi Colony. Somdutt was taking his wife to get her Aadhaar card updated, when they were hit by a speeding Creta SUV while crossing the road, Indian Express reported.
The incident took place on the morning of April 7, news agency PTI reported.
"A PCR call regarding the accident was received around 8.36 am on Monday. The couple were hit by the car and the vehicle's driver took them to a private hospital," police said.

Driver Took Injured Couple To Hospital
The car was being driven by a man named Prince Giri, a resident of Narela Pocket 6. After the accident, he took the couple to Fortis hospital in Shalimar Bagh. While Somdutt succumbed to his injuries during treatment, Rampyari was declared brought dead by doctors, PTI reported.
Police said they have seized the car involved in the accident. A notice has been issued under Section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act asking the vehicle's registered owner to appear for investigation.
"Given the fatal nature of the incident, the case has been transferred to Motor Accident Claims Tribunals (MACT) Cell for further proceedings," DCP (Outer North) Nidhin Valsan said, as stated in an Indian Express report.
The police officer said that no eyewitnesses could be found on the spot. The Aadhaar card of Rampyari was recovered during the inspection of the crime scene.
An FIR has been registered in the matter under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) at Swaroop Nagar police station, according to police.
