Major Relief For Aaditya Thackeray As Bombay HC Grants Him Clean Chit In Disha Salian Death Case

State tells court there’s no evidence of foul play in Salian’s 2020 death; father alleges rape, murder, and political cover-up involving Aaditya Thackeray.

The Maharashtra government has told the Bombay High Court that there is no suspicious evidence surrounding the death of Disha Salian, asserting that the case is one of suicide.

Disha Salian, who previously worked as Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager, died on June 9, 2020, after falling from the 12th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai.

Her father had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking a probe by either the Mumbai Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In response, the state government informed the court that there is no room for doubt regarding the circumstances of Salian’s death. It also stated that Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray is innocent in the matter.

Disha’s Father Alleges Political Pressure

Salian’s father alleged that his daughter was brutally raped and murdered, and that there were attempts to suppress the case for political reasons. He claimed that former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray was involved and demanded that an FIR be registered against him as well.

Representing the state government, Senior Inspector Shailendra Nagarkar from Malvani Police Station submitted a reply in court, describing the allegations in the petition as baseless and unfounded. He informed the court that, based on scientific investigation and the post-mortem report, a closure report has already been filed in the case.

'BJP Taking Political Advantage'

Nationalist Congress Party leader from Sharad Pawar camp Rohit Pawar blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party of taking political advantage of the case. "Aaditya Thackeray had no relation to this incident. The BJP and its allies attempted to take political advantage by associating Disha Salian's name with Aaditya Thackeray... For political gain, these leaders tried to use the name of a person who is no more," said the NCP-SCP leader.
