Dilip Ghosh's Stepson Found Dead In Kolkata Home, Cause Of Death Not Known Yet
Dilip Ghosh's stepson and Rinku Dasgupta's son, Pritam, was found dead at his home in New Town. An investigation has been started to find the exact cause of death.
Former BJP state president Dilip Ghosh's stepson, Pritam Dasgupta aka Srinjoy, was found dead in New Town. The body was recovered from his Shapurji residence. Pritam was the son of Dilip Ghosh's wife Rinku Majumdar. Dilip Ghosh got married to Rinku at a private ceremony on April 18 this year.
The 28-year-old Pritam lived in the Techno PC area under the Bidhannagar Commissionerate. He used to work at a private IT company. He was found in an unconscious condition on Tuesday morning. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, ABP Ananda reported.
How Did Pritam Dasgupta Die?
The cause of Pritam's death is not known yet. The body has been sent to Bidhannagar District Hospital. Rinku had arrived at the hospital, but she was seen seated in her car at the time of writing. A friend discovered Pritam's body first and called his mother.
Quoting "hospital sources", the ABP Ananda report said Pritam's neck bore marks of strangulation, and preliminary investigation was pointing to suicide. It is still not known whether he lived alone in the house or if someone else lived with him.
The family is yet to issue a statement on the matter. The police have started investigation to find out if he was suffering from depression. His phone is also under scrutiny to find clues to his death.
Pritam's uncle Paritosh Shil said they had planned an outing together. He waited until around 9.30 PM on Monday, but Pritam didn't show up. Later, Pritam called him between 10 PM and 10:30 PM and said he had returned home from work feeling exhausted and had fallen asleep. He told his uncle that he would wait for him the next morning at Science City. On Tuesday morning, Paritosh tried calling again, but the calls repeatedly went to voicemail. He assumed Pritam was still asleep, but received the tragic news soon after, ABP Ananda reported.
Paritosh clarified that there was absolutely no sign of discontent in Pritam regarding his mother’s marriage. In fact, he said, the 28-year-old had been very happy about it. After Rinku’s wedding, the family didn’t notice any change in Pritam’s behaviour — he actually seemed more cheerful than before, according to his uncle.
This has left the family puzzled over what could have led to his death. His body has been taken to RG Kar Hospital for post-mortem examination. The cause of death will be confirmed once the autopsy report is available.
What Pritam Said About Dilip And Rinku's Marriage
Pritam had expressed heartfelt support for his mother's recent marriage to Dilip Ghosh. Though unable to attend the ceremony last month due to being out of town, Pritam had said he was genuinely happy about the union. Speaking to ABP Ananda, he had shared that while he wished he could have been present, his absence didn't diminish his joy. "I'm very happy for my mother," he said. "She has finally found someone to settle down with, and I'm glad they share the same values and beliefs."
Pritam acknowledged how Rinku, who had been divorced for over a decade, had single-handedly managed familial responsibilities for 13 years. He said it was now time for his mother to focus on her own happiness. He also revealed that he had met and spoken with Dilip Ghosh multiple times and had accepted him as a father figure. "At a certain age, having someone to fill that emotional vacuum means a lot," he noted.
Srinjoy had also said he planned to gift the couple something special upon his return.
