Dense Fog Continues To Grip National Capital, Thundershower Forecast For Weekend

Delhi experiences a cold wave with dense fog, affecting visibility and causing train delays. City's air quality remains poor, at an index of 310.

Cold wave continues to grip the national capital on Tuesday morning, as a thick layer of fog shrouded the city.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded 11.6 degrees Celsius in the early morning on Tuesday. The IMD has predicted maximum and miniumum temperature of 19 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively, for the day. It also said that the city will witness smog/moderate fog at most places with dense fog at a few places in the morning.

Due to intense fog, several trains are running late at New Delhi railway station.

As the temperature of the city dipped, people were seen sitting around a bonfire, in order to keep themselves warm.

However, amid the fog situation in the city, flight operations are normal at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.

In other news, the air quality index of the city recorded at 6 AM was at 310, which comes under 'very poor' category.

Several Trains Delayed

The intense fog has disrupted train operations. Nearly 25 trains were running behind the schedule, according to news agency ANI. Those running late include Poorva Express, Vikramshila Express, RJPB Tejas Express, Mewar Express and others.
